Description
The Post Holder is responsible for leading a function of c. 80-100 colleagues to develop a first-class service centre to support the organisations strategic mission. Areas of responsibility include; Accounts Payable, the Income Office (Accounts Receivable) and Credit Control, Payroll and Pensions, HR & Finance Systems and a small Continuous Improvement team. The Post Holder will also continually review the service offering, coordinating with senior colleagues to identify further activities within Finance and other Professional Services that could be included in the Service to realise efficiencies and other benefits.
A key element of the role includes ownership of the organisations HR & Finance Systems, including the ERP system, Unit 4's Business World (referred to as MyERP). The Post Holder will be responsible for driving through the immediate changes (to both business processes and system configuration) as well as contributing to the long-term strategy for all HR & Finance systems.
Other responsibilites include:
- Lead and manage up to 5 teams to deliver a customer-focussed service to both internal and external customers.
- Drive the delivery of focused, innovative and value-adding Management Information and Analysis across Financial Operations and to interpret this information and make appropriate interventions to improve operational performance.
- Work with colleagues to embed a culture of Continuous Improvement ensuring that errors are traced to source and processes amended as required, eliminating rather than correcting errors
- Management and delivery of the monthly payroll service for approximately 9,000 University staff, including casuals.
Profile
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Financial Qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA)
- Proven, successful experience as a senior finance professional in a large and complex organisation
- Proven, successful experience in a high volume, transactional operational finance role
- Experience of leading a Payroll function, good working knowledge of Payroll and Pensions legislation
- Involvement in leading Systems strategy, including a working knowledge of ERP systems
- Comfortable creating and implementing financial control frameworks from scratch
- Experience of Business Process Improvement / Continuous Improvement
