About the Opportunity

The NDIS is a $22 billion opportunity to support 460,000 people to achieve their goals.

The Boosting the Local Care Workforce Program has been established to support providers to help disability and aged care service providers to realise those opportunities and establish an effective market for disability services nationally. The Program is being delivered by EY, the First Peoples Disability Network and the Community Services Industry Alliance.

The Program has engaged 25 Regional Coordinators and 8 Specialist Coordinators across Australia to support the implementation of the NDIS by identifying market issues and gaps, and helping service providers to attract, retain and optimise their workforces.

Your primary responsibility will be to work with existing and prospective service providers and key stakeholders to provide localised support, gather market intelligence, facilitate workshops and connect stakeholders with complementary programs and initiatives in the disability and aged care sectors.

This will be achieved by:
  • Providing local and specialised support for service providers in transitioning to or entering the disability market by diversifying and adjusting their business operations, including workforce management, to remain competitive under consumer choice models.
  • Holding local workshops to engage key players in the market
  • Engaging with local service providers including providers of specialised supports by holding industry information and advisory meetings, to gather intelligence on local issues or in relation to the market for a specialised support
  • Supporting disability service and aged care providers to improve their workforce planning, modelling and development capability, including recruitment models, working conditions, terms of employment (casual, part-time, full time) and how to reduce turnover.
  • Engaging with relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory government officials and other relevant parties.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following required experience:
  • Communication skills - candidates will require effective communication skills to liaise with local providers and state and territory program officials, including the ability to facilitate workshops and presentations to large groups.
  • Insight and analysis - candidates will be required to gather, report and draw on data and insights gained from service providers on the ground to provide advice on market issues and gaps.
  • Knowledge - candidates will have a good working knowledge of the disability and aged care sectors; a good working knowledge about their regional area; and a working knowledge of NDIS and market and workforce issues.
Background in the disability sector, or similar service delivery programs is a requirement for this role.

Successful applicants will be expected to engage in home-based working as part of their role and must hold a current Victorian Working with Children Check. In addition to compulsory checks, the successful applicant must hold an Australian Driver's Licence.

Please note that successful applicants will not necessarily be employed by EY.
