Senior Account / Financial Controller Georg Jensen is looking for an experienced, dynamic, and hands–on Senior Accountant / Financial Controller to join our small team in New York. The role is responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. You will report to the Managing Director, US. The US team consists of 15 dedicated colleagues, from Sales Professionals to Visual Merchandising Manager. Georg Jensen has a leading market position in the high–end Jewellery market and premium Home Product market with distribution to the best retailers in the market. The roleThe position is critical to our team and will have daily collaboration with the DK based Global Finance Team. The criteria for success in this position will be to ensure accurate and timely reporting and to develop and optimize business processes. Your tasks and responsibilities.Manage all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost control, Inventory Accounting, payroll, and Revenue Recognition.Prepare the budget, financial forecasts, and publish monthly financial statements on time. Research and report on variances wherever necessary.Processing of accounts payable, fixed assets, and all other balance sheets accountsRun credit checks on potential new accounts and create new accounts accordinglyCoordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting including Sales Tax Reports and Payroll Tax Reports etc.Assist with necessary human resource–related activitiesResearch technical accounting issues to ensure compliance.Prepare and assist with monthly, quarterly, and year–end closing processesPerform monthly general ledger and bank reconciliationsEnsure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.Preparation of bi–weekly payrollDaily banking activities (deposits/disbursements, etc.Assist with any additional ad hoc administrative tasks Your Profile: The ideal candidate has proven working experience as an accountant or Senior accountant with strong reference support, and holds an advanced degree in Accounting, with 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience. The ideal candidate has the following competencies: CPA or CMA preferredProven working experience as an accountant or Senior accountant with strong reference supportHands–on type of person who strives for constant improvementProficient with general ledger functions and the month–end/year–end close process Hands–on kind of person, who strives for continuous improvementMust demonstrate outstanding leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skillsThorough knowledge of accounting principles and proceduresExperience with creating financial statementsStrong ability to transform analysis into action plansAbility to communicate ways to improve processes where needed by sharing ideas and effectively contributing to building a team spirit by having a positive attitudeAbility to make decisions and be a self–starter.
