About the Company:

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Finance to join their senior management team. This is a key leadership role that will provide financial and commercial advice, support and direction to the Managing Director and Executive team. Responsible for the production of accurate and timely Management accounts, forecasts, budgets and information for the business and the long term development of the finance function.

About the role:
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a high performing finance function that aligns to the development and growth requirements.
  • Working in close cooperation with the MD , FD and the board you will ensure that an appropriate financial policy framework is in place to guide their financial decision making process.
  • To deliver value added insight and analysis into the activities of the business, pro-actively identifying opportunities for improvement and areas of concern.
  • Ensure the appropriateness of key assumptions included in the medium term financial plan (forecasting/budgeting) providing advice to senior management colleagues.
  • Plan and manage cash flow and investment activity in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Preparation of monthly accounts.
  • Work closely with the Executive team with the preparation of budget and forecasts.
  • Preparation of monthly reporting packs including KPIs and other analysis.
  • Contribute to the preparation of their business plan.
  • Ensure compliance and correct record keeping is in place for tax liabilities and that regulations are followed.
  • Act as an externally facing representative for Finance on behalf of the organisation.
  • Keep abreast of financial developments across the energy sector by liaising with senior finance staff in other organisations.

About you:
  • Executive level experience and in-depth experience of the finance and accountancy function with a good understanding of best-practice.
  • Experience of working in a leadership role within a small team, ideally a start up or small but growing business.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation style and executive presence; articulate and confident
  • Able to successfully engage and communicate with colleagues with a wide-range of backgrounds and skillsets.
  • Proven ability to identify business opportunities and efficiency savings to enhance the profitability of eSmart Networks.
  • Ability to lead, assist and advice in the creation of business plans with associated budgets
  • Ability to identify, recruit, retain, coach, mentor and motivate the Finance team.
  • CIMA / ACCA / ICAEW qualified is essential.
  • Experience within the utilities, infrastructure or energy sector an advantage.
  • Highly developed decision making support tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge and awareness of continuous improvement within existing and new processes.
