Head of Finance/Financial Controller

We are currently supporting a small Legal firm who are on a very positive growth trajectory with the recruitment of an established Head of Finance/Financial Controller, someone who has the aspiration of becoming their Finance Director moving forward - the speed of which is entirely dependent on the individual and how well they integrate in to the business and set the standards through achievements moving forward.

This is a COFA role - please do not apply if you have not got COFA experience. Again, this is a COFA role.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Ownership and production of the monthly management accounts, providing commentary and analysis as standard with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Support and strategic guidance form a finance perspective as you'll be reporting directly to the CEO of this business.
  • Management and support of the third-party stakeholders including the auditors/accountants.
  • Experience with managing client accounts within a Legal Practice are essential.
  • This is a COFA role and as such, a non-negotiable is having COFA exposure and ownership.
  • Management and development of an Accounts Assistant, supporting with day to day guidance and encouraging development through their accounting studies.
  • Validation and management of bonus calculations, expenses, payroll (outsourced), P11Ds, and CSOP submissions.
  • Ownership and experience of managing a transactional finance function such as AP, AR, SL, CC etc.
  • Ad-hoc project management and other responsibilities where appropriate.

  • Strong educational background such as a Degree and/or Masters/MBA.
  • Qualified ACA from Practice would be preferred, size and scale not important but an ACCA qualified Accountant or equivalent will be considered.
  • A second language would be advantageous, especially mainstream European such as Spanish or Far Eastern such as Cantonese/Mandarin.
  • Exceptional cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Confidence to interact directly with senior management.
  • Ability to work independently and are proactive.
