The Catalina Island Company boasts more than 25 activities and tours designed to introduce visitors to the island's natural beauty and rich history including the Zip Line Eco Tour, East End Adventure, Undersea Expedition and many more.We are committed to encouraging and developing our team in a world class environment and are continuously developing the products and services we offer to increase the standards on Catalina Island – "California's Island Escape".The RoleThe incumbent is responsible for staffing the front desk of the hotel for the late night and early morning shifts. In addition to being mathematically inclined for balancing monies from the Hotels this individual must be very customer service oriented. Provides customer service and problem solving for our in–house and external guests. Helps coordinate guest activities. Performs the Night Audit for up to six properties. Responsible for maintaining a safe hotel environment. Prepares hotel for the next day's arrivals.The Incumbent Is Responsible ToResponsibilities:Front Desk Answer phone Provide general and availability information for hotel, campgrounds, tours and transportation Book reservations for transportation, tour, special activities, lodging space; including rate and payment information by telephone, fax and email Post and refund payments. Balance shift report with all payments including credit cards Provide local area information to our in–house guests and the general public Not leave the Front Desk area unlocked if not attended during shift Check–in hotel guests including walk–ins Act as the Manager On Duty whenever the Front Office Manager may be absent or off–duty Act as coordinator between the guests and the bell staffNight Audit Duties Balance monies from Hotel Atwater, Pavilion Hotel, Mt.Ada shift reports Fill out bank drops for these monies and drop in safe at SCICO offices Check for "NO SHOWS" (late check outs not processed during the day). Nightly posting of "room and tax" to each guest room for each Resort Suite property Check off list of ledger balances Save reports to computer files Process "close of day" procedures Check in Sales and Groups accounts Preparation of coffee prior to concierge arrival for continental breakfast Preparation of pastries prior to concierge arrival for continental breakfast Set up of courtyard towels prior to bellman arrival Clean up and maintain lobby clean; stocked up with supplies and organized Security duties include hourly rounds by all guest doors, checking for open doors, loud guests, loud TV's, keys in locks. Check all grounds, gates, linen rooms and maintenance shops to make sure they are locked. At the Atwater check all fire escapes and roof areas to make sure they are clear.Minimum Qualifications Must be computer literate, Microsoft Office experience helpful Must be proficient with Resort Suite (Hotel PMS/POS software) Able to work independently without direct supervision Must be very well organized and able to work in a fast–paced environment Must respond adequately to new projects and tasks Must maintain a clean and professional appearance Must adhere to uniform policiesEducation And/or Experience High School/GED diploma Previous hospitality, hotel experience in a resort environmentLanguage SkillsAbility to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.Physical Requirements Requires visual acuity and ability to hear to clearly communicate with managers, coworkers, guests and vendors Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time Must be able to reach with arms and hands Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
