As the Group Payroll Manager, you will be a key member of a high-performing SEA finance team. You will be based in Singapore, working cross-functionally across SEA, especially with Indonesia but also with Malaysia and Vietnam. The right candidate for this position will be an individual who has a natural intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills, flexibility and the desire to drive process improvements.

Job Description

Core activities

  • Ensure an accurate and timely paycheck & payroll process, including but not limited to base pay, stock compensation(ESOP), payroll taxes, pension, statutory and supplemental benefits, proration and other deductions compliant with manpower regulations/labour laws in countries we operate
  • Manage relationships with payroll service provider
  • Validate the payroll activities performed by the payroll service provider such as payroll reports, overtime, monthly salary, incentive, bonus, and any other customized component in each country
  • Perform payroll audits upon request.
  • Partner with HR and ensure appropriate deductions for employee loans and excess leave
  • Develop reports for monthly, quarterly and annual dashboards. Prepare various government regulated reports and surveys; Maintain well documented and well-organized payroll records. Proactively prepare relevant management reports and statistics as needed

Month Close support

  • Partner with finance team to perform month-end close, quarter-end and year-end processes for the group entities including preparations of payroll journal entries and payroll accruals; Support finance team during audit process for payroll related activities
  • Reconcile insurance and other benefit vendor invoices and payroll deduction reports.

Process

  • Establish group payroll strategy to ensure consistency across the group
  • Apply best practices for payroll processing; stay abreast of changes. Critically review and analyse current payroll practices and procedures in order to recommend and implement positive changes and solutions. Update and maintain Payroll Standard Operating Procedures accordingly

Compliance

  • Responsible for ensuring all payroll regulatory filings are completed in line with statutory due dates

Expansion

  • Lead payroll development and implementation process for new countries or entities, as needed

 

Qualified Candidates must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Strong experience in the regional payroll compliance with adequate knowledge of HR
  • Thorough and up-to-date working knowledge of all countries and local labour laws
  • Must be highly analytical, possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete work in a timely, accurate and independent manner
  • Solid accounting, mathematical reasoning, and deduction skills
  • Proficiency with Excel for analytics
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Can be flexible and willing to work across multiple time zones, sometimes outside of the conventional workday
