Position Summary:

The Risk Oversight & Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance, and delivery of oversight programs related to unsecured risk policies in the Australia consumer risk management unit.

This individual will work closely with the Credit Operations teams (Acceptance, Fraud, Collections & Hardship) and Compliance to continuously improve the quality, methodology & controls of oversight programs. She/he will also maintain and manage updates to the Business Credit Policy & Procedures Manual (BCPPM), Credit Policy Bulletins, risk intranet, the credit delegations framework, and the continuity of business framework for unsecured risk.

He/she will also be responsible for leading a team of two direct reports, including strong talent management and development and ensuring the quality, timeliness and delivery of end results of the team.

Key Accountabilities:

Oversight:
  • Establishing and overseeing the application of a risk oversight framework and governance process
  • Ensure periodical governance forums are held in compliance with global policies
  • Periodical testing of adherence to credit risk policies across all areas of credit life cycle
Governance:
  • Maintain and manage updates to the Business Credit Policy & Procedures Manual (BCPPM), Credit Policy Bulletins, risk intranet and the credit delegations framework
  • Manage and maintain credit delegations including tracking & review of credit officer performance
  • Track all unsecured risk related permanent & temporary policy deviations for adherence to approval conditions
  • Manage the escalation of new issues/Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and provide updates on action steps required to meet CAP deadlines
Reviews & Audits/Projects:
  • Be the point of contact within the unsecured risk team for all internal reviews and audits
  • Take on special projects assigned by manager
Relationship Management:
  • Build relationships across the organization to ensure business goals are met
  • Use effective and appropriate communication skills in dealing with all stakeholders
  • Liaise with credit operations, compliance, legal representatives, auditors when required
Team Management & Development:
  • Ensure effectiveness of each team member and ensure business opportunities are maximized
  • Establish agreed performance standards and provide clear and specific support to team members to optimize performance
  • Provide guidance and support to team in relation to policies and procedures
  • Manage the communication flow to keep team members fully informed of their responsibilities and accountabilities
Other Key Responsibilities:
  • Has responsibility for quality, timeliness and delivery of end results of a team
  • Contributes to standards around which others will operate
  • Ensure that activities and initiatives being managed are compliant to existing policies
  • Keep track and control of caps and triggers to Global Consumer Credit & Fraud Risk Policies and internal policies
  • Support review processes and assist reviewers and auditors
  • Identify, build and manage key relationships across the organization
  • Lead the identification and drive resolution of issues
  • Direct the communication of status and issues to all stakeholders, including senior management, on a timely basis
  • May be responsible for detailed analysis of issues where the best course of action is not evident from the information available, but actions must be recommended/taken
  • Other business jobs or responsibilities as defined by the manager


Qualifications

Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years in a similar role (Oversight/Quality Assurance/Operational Risk/Audit)
  • 8-10 years relevant experience in Financial Services with a track record of success
  • Broad knowledge of relevant regulatory environment in financial services
  • Knowledge of Consumer lending
