Responsible for the operation of the internal audit function, using a risk based. Supports the Head: Internal Audit in providing the Senior Management Team and the Finance and Audit Committee with information on internal audit and audit follow up actions.

Working with the Head of Internal Audit to manage Internal Audit, Risk and Fraud
Preparing draft internal audit plans by reference to the risk management framework for approval by the Finance and Audit Committee.
Drafting terms of reference and liaising with the office / organisation / team being audited.
Supporting the delivery of management responses within the specified time frame.
Supporting relevant staff to design a plan of action to implement required/agreed changes.
Reviewing internal audit reports completed by external consultants, identifying clearly relevant weaknesses and reviewing management responses.
Critically analyses internal audit reports to identify any common features across audits and proposes system improvements.
Supports the Head of Internal Audit in response to suspected fraud and other financial concerns.
Regularly updates the Fraud Policy and ensures that colleagues and partner organisations are aware of the policy and trained in how to use it.
Supports partner management teams to implement systems to minimise the risk of fraud and to respond to fraud suspicions.

Profile
Accounting / Internal Audit or other relevant professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIPFA/CIA/Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist)
Experience of working within matrix-management structures
Proven experience of working as part of an audit function or in internal audit
Proven experience of ensuring compliance with international donor rules and requirements
Experience of selecting, recruiting and managing international and professional internal audit specialists
Experience of working in an international organisation, and/or a charity/international NGO
Highly developed analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating high levels of personal integrity and professional credibility
Excellent negotiating and high level influencing skills and the ability to challenge at a senior level when necessary
The ability to build strong and credible relationships with a wide variety of people, including those from different cultures
Excellent report writing skills and ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
