Financial Controller

A newly created Financial Controller position in an empowering organising that truly puts people at the heart of their business. This individual will manage and develop a small finance team and support them to develop as an organisation by improving their processes and procedures.

Our client is a growing service sector organising based in the heart of Brighton. Formed 5 years ago they have grown year on year and now employ over 100 people with plans to expand further both in the UK and internationally.

Description

A new position of Financial Controller has been created and will manage the day to day operations of the Finance team which is currently 4 people. This individual will work alongside the Finance Director to ensure that weekly and monthly tasks such as reporting, record keeping, cash controls, forecasting and audit oversight are completed on time within the framework of accounting controls and standards.

They will manage the month-end close process across the team, including sub-ledger closes, general ledger close, month and year-end close. As well as preparing year-end accounts in preparation for audit and being the primary point-of-contact with the auditors.

They will manage and report on cash-flow both daily and monthly.

Support the Finance Director with various process improvement and organisational change projects which may include the selection and implementation of a new finance system and changes to reporting standards through international expansion.

Profile

2+ years post qualified experience (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)

Previous line Management experience of 2+ individuals

Strong people skills and the ability to lead through change and help take the organisation to the next level.

Exceptional technical skills, ideally gained through practice or a Financial Accounting position. Strong audit skills would be a benefit

Someone who can bring in experience from the outside and help them with process improvement and add structure to the team/ organisation. Someone who can bring in ideas about systems and help them with changes in the future.
