A role exists in the Group Reporting team for someone to provide technical accounting expertise to the finance community. Though a Group role, significant interaction is required with the businesses as this individual needs to fully understand the contracts we deliver to customers.

Description

  • Supporting the Group in meeting its financial reporting requirements as a publicly listed company;
  • Ensuring that the Group is appropriately prepared and set-up to be compliant with new accounting standards (managing/leading this process); [specifically IFRS16 adoption]
  • Investigating and facilitating solutions to potentially complex accounting issues that arise both at a Group level and within the business;
  • Liaising with business finance staff to provide technical advice and support e.g. how to account for the LTPA contract, see link; Leading and Modernising Test & Evaluation - Investors
  • Providing financial and accounting support to other Group functions including treasury, tax, business strategy, and investor relations on an ad-hoc basis;
  • Monitoring changes in the Financial Reporting environment, producing assessments of the impact on new accounting standards;
  • Maintaining the Group Finance Manual - ensuring it is continually reviewed and updated to reflect latest best practice and is a user-friendly document readily referred to across the Group;
  • Maintaining share-based payments models and owning all aspects of accounting and reporting for share-based payments;
  • Assisting in the production and reporting of monthly Group accounts;

Profile

  • Must hold a relevant accounting qualification
  • Detailed experience of statutory financial reporting for listed companies (consolidated Group) and non-listed subsidiaries;
  • Strong technical accounting skills with detailed and comprehensive knowledge of IFRS. Some subsidiaries report under UK GAAP so experience in this area is also required;
  • Preparation of group consolidations;
  • Experience of consolidation reporting software (e.g. Hyperion) is advantageous;
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Very good problem-solving skills - able to investigate and facilitate solutions to potentially complex issues;
  • Ability to influence at senior levels;

Job Offer

£50,000 - £60,000 + Bonus
