My client are a not for profit business, based in Witham and have a large finance team.

Description

The responsibilities for this Assistant technical accountant are:

Analyse data and complete standard forms, used as supporting documentation in the preparation of the statutory

accounts, under guidance.

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the coding structure of all client organisations

Ensure all payroll deductions, Tax, National Insurance, Superannuation, voluntary deductions (Court orders, Union fees, AVC's, rent etc) are accurately paid to the relevant authorities within the Government guidelines.

Knowledge to interrogate the financial ledger and download to excel spreadsheet where applicable all ledger activity. Using the financial accounting skills analyse and identify all transactions that have occurred during the month on balance sheet control accounts or third party calculations.

Understand VAT regulations and their application to the NHS. Prepare the monthly VAT return for submission to HMustoms & Excise before the deadline:

Interrogate the General ledger, extract information and produce excel spread sheets to ensure VAT has been correctly treated, and correct where necessary

Process additional VAT reclaims prepared by internal and external VAT advisors as required

Extract data from the ledger to standard working papers

Analyse routine data and complete standard reports. If appropriate, request an invoice or credit note to be raised by completing the standard form.

Prepare draft routine statutory returns to government departments on behalf of clients, eg VAT for client submission.

Assist in the NHS Agreement of Balances exercise.

Be familiar with and use as appropriate all computerised systems available within own area of work and develop the use of these systems.

Adhere to financial procedures in own area of work for the accurate and efficient recording of financial transactions and highlight any issues for revision as necessary.

Deputise as necessary for the Technical Accountant

Such other duties appropriate to the grade and skills of the post holder as may be required and as agreed with the Technical Accountant.

Profile

The successful assistant technical accountant must be studying or completed AAT with accounts experience
