Michael Page Finance are pleased to be partnering with a charitable organisation based in an accessible Bristol location, to appoint a Head of Finance in to their team, on a 12 month fixed term contract. This position will be part time, 3 days per week / 0.6 FTE.

Description
- Manage the day to day finance operations of the organisation ensuring an effective control environment is in place.
- Authorise amendments to the Exchequer chart of accounts.
- Manage and continually improve financial policies and processes in order to provide an excellent service to all stakeholders.
- Manage day to day cashflow and lead on cash management including authorising bank reconciliations, agreeing float and petty cash limits and authorising bank access rights and preferences.
- Manage the day to day operations of the accounting software package, Exchequer, and its associated apps.
- Lead the preparation of annual accounts, ensure that audit preparations are completed in line with the agreed timetable and liaise effectively with external and internal auditors.
- Lead the finance team to deliver excellent customer service student groups, staff and other stakeholders.
- Ensure all designated and restricted reserves are accounted for in line with charity law and accounting standards.
- Ensure the sales ledger, purchase ledger and all control accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis.
- Authorise financial transactions within the financial limits agreed by the Director of Finance & Administration.
- Ensure VAT is accounted for in an accurate, appropriate and consistent manner.
- Ensure statutory returns are submitted on a timely and accurate basis including VAT returns, Corporation Tax, Charity Commission returns and National Statistics Office surveys.
Profile
The ideal candidate for the Head of Finance position:
- CCAB Qualified Accountant e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA
- Significant experience in financial accounting including the completion of year end statutory accounts.
- Experience in management accounting including budget setting, cashflow and management accounts.
- Good working knowledge of VAT rules & principles.
