World class sports organisation requires a Financial Controller to join their west London based HQ. The role will take day to day responsibility for the finance function managing a team of 3, and will suit a commercially savvy qualified accountant with minimum 2 years post qualified experience.
The Role
  • Manage the day to day operation of the Finance function to ensure the provision of a high quality service to stakeholders
  • Leading the preparation and consolidation of the annual financial budget. Providing support to budget holders to build accurate and achievable budgets that meet the organisation’s financial strategy
  • Maintaining and enhancing the internal financial controls, procedures and processes to ensure a robust financial control framework is in place to protect the organisation’s assets
  • Day to day line management of the Management Accountant, Finance Officer, and Finance Assistant.
  • Provision of accurate financial management information to stakeholders in accordance with an agreed timetable to enable the effective financial management of the organisation
  • Regular review of financial performance and forecasts with budget holders
  • Monitoring and accurate recording of grant expenditure and ensuring compliance with all financial reporting requirements to funding bodies
  • Maintain accurate cash flow forecasts and ensure appropriate treasury management practices in place
  • Leading the preparation and audit of the annual report and accounts
  • Overseeing the operation of the outsourced payroll function
  • Conducting annual appraisals, performance reviews, team meetings and other management duties

The Person
  • Qualified accountant with a minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience in a financial management position
  • Experience with direct line management, mentoring or supervision of staff
  • Experience of the production of management and statutory accounts to agreed deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and advanced Excel skills
  • Proven experience of building excellent working relationships with non-financial members of the organisation
