Our team of Analysts and Engineers provide high end support to key organizations within the Commercial sector, Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), State and Local Law Enforcement and Intelligence Community. We are seeking a Controller/Head of Finance, who has an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or is a current CPA candidate, to lead our corporate Finance Department in Alexandria, VA. You will be responsible for all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) practices and oversee all financial functions/activities. As the head of the finance department, your duties will include standard Controller responsibilities such as general ledger (GL) entries, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), payroll, bank and labor reconciliation, monthly closings, and state & tax compliance/filings (supported by a third–party Tax CPA firm). You will be responsible for profitability management across the Company by applying cost/pricing rules and assessments for sales and client services to uphold and grow revenue streams. You will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), and will assist in the development, refining and delivery of all finance and accounting strategies across the company under GAAP and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliance. The best candidate will apply critical thinking to assist executive management in identifying risk and developing risk mitigation strategies. Experience with government contracting is a plus. What you can expect to work on o Manage all aspects of accounting via QuickBooks while using GAAP accounting practices for; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, running payroll via ADP, budgeting, AP, AR, state & tax compliance, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analysis as needed o Prepare, organize and submit monthly AP/AR, and monthly closings & financial reports to executive management o Oversee payments of all accounts; ensuring all accounts are paid accurately and on time o Report directly to COO and consult with COO on financial issues or areas where you may not have experience o Provide cost/pricing analysis for profitable bids or quotes o Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting, as well as bank and labor reconciliations o Provide (or be willing to learn) DCAA compliance o Manage (or be willing to learn) General Services Administration (GSA) schedule for Small Business Federal Contracting purposes o Provide profitability analysis, willing to set policies and practices on profitability management o Ensure company always complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements o Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations as needed o Oversee any additional Controller duties as needed o Work with senior executives and with a team of friendly and intelligent coworkers What we expect from you o Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting and/or have an active CPA license or be a current CPA candidate with license expected soon o Have a minimum of five (5) years professional financial experience o Demonstrable knowledge of payroll, ADP, QuickBooks, o Exceptional, clear and concise knowledge of applicable GAAP standards and ability to disseminate such information to management throughout the process o Have knowledge or be willing to learn: ?
