Royalties Advisor needed for large education and training organisation based in Harlow. This person is needed for an immediate start!

Client Details

My client is an education and training organisation based in Harlow. The team works closely with the publishing, legal, and subsidiary rights departments of the organisation, both collecting and providing information relating to royalty income and payments. In addition, they work closely with finance and business managers to ensure that advances provisions, cash expenditure and cash income forecasting are delivered in accordance with agreed timetables. They need a Royalties Advisor on a temporary basis to join them.

Description

The responsibilities of the Royalties Advisor include:

  • Ensuring that payments are made in accordance with Author contracts.
  • Ensuring that royalty statements are accurate and delivered in accordance with author contracts.
  • Providing resolution of author queries in respect of statements and payments
  • Providing analysis and reporting to business units to support accounting and editorial functions
  • Responsible for the production and checking of quarterly and semestral Manual Statements for Key Licensors, as allocated.

Profile

The successful candidate will have:

  • Good communication skills, including written and telephone.
  • Understanding of double entry book-keeping and basic accounting rules
  • Evidence of problem resolution through tenacity and demonstrable ability to work in line with established polices and procedures.
  • Experience in using computerised accounting systems such as Oracle, OBIE Reporting, etc.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office tools, particularly confident use of MS Excel
  • Experience in working under tight deadlines and managing a variable workload
  • Ability to remain cool under pressure not knocked off balance by the unexpected.
  • Some awareness of current policies, practices and procedures and information affecting the role, such as copyright law and accounting practices

THEY MUST HAVE:

  • Experience of working in an accounts / financial environment such as accounts payable / receivable, cash office or other accounting function
  • Some experience in dealing with third parties / customers or suppliers
  • Experience of working in a Royalties department would be of advantage
