NGO supporting children with disabilities

Accommodation & Food

Belize

2 Weeks

Our partner provides children with disabilities the opportunity to access physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and special education services, free of costs or for a very small contribution.

They reached AfID to ask for support in improving their financial procedures and systems, to make sure they are compliant with local and international requirements and be ready for future development and growth.

You will begin with an internal review of their accounting procedures, systems and controls, making recommendations for best practice while taking into account the local context, needs, capacity and resources of the local team. You will start implementing the recommendations, in order of priority as decided together with the team, while also providing training to staff.

Please note this is a small organization and you will most probably need to go back to basics while creating procedures, templates and improving the system they use. The needs and scope of work can be very diverse: they have never had an audit, and you will support them in preparing for one. They are working on Quickbooks, and you will assess their capacity of using the system to it’s highest functionality, as well as provide training for further improvement. Depending on time, you will also support them in improving the reports to their donors, as well as offering support and training on forecasting and overall financial planning and strategy of the organization.
