Accounts Assistant role within an independent practice in Portsmouth.

Client Details

My client is one of Portsmouth's leading independent practices. With a leadership team of well networked Partners this firm has built a reputation for excellent client service and a progressive approach to staff development. Service lines include accountancy, audit, tax compliance/advisory, payroll and management accounts.

The client base includes locally based SMEs in the manufacturing, professional services and charities sector offering their staff broad exposure to a range of industries. Other clients include professional contractors, sole traders and partnerships.

The manager population are all trained in effective management skills specifically designed with trainees in mind creating a very open, learning orientated culture.

Description

As an Accounts Assistant you will start your career at the busy Portsmouth office, preparing straight forward financial accounts for some of the smaller SME clients and sole traders across different sectors. You will be working within a team of 20 staff mostly comprised of AAT, ACCA and ACA part qualified accountants.

You will be guided by a well-established Manager within the Audit & Accounts department who existing staff describe as calm, friendly and approachable with an accomplished technical background.

In line with the firms commitment to staff development and training you will also form part of the 'Making Tax Digital' project team which will transform the way HMRC receive tax submissions from small businesses. The project is expected to start in a year's time in preparation for the deadline and will offer the successful candidate a chance to build relationships across the business alongside the usual day to day duties.

Profile

My client is aiming this Accounts Assistant role towards AAT students who are at level 3 or above and with at least 2 years' experience. Your background can be from any practice based environment, large or small.

You do not need to have any experience in tax for the 'Making Tax Digital' project as all training will be provided.
This firm looks for hard working, positive minded and approachable people. You don't have to be the most outgoing character in the room - the only important factor for this leadership team aside from the technical experience, is a genuine will to learn.
