Overview

California's Great America has an opening within the Finance Division for a Director of Finance. This position will report to the Vice President and General Manager of the amusement park. The Director of Finance will be responsible for planning, directing and supervising financial planning and accounting, information systems and cash control department functions and activities, as well as ensuring all fiduciary responsibilities are met. This successful individual will contribute to the overall company strategic planning, policy development and implementation, in addition to performing related administrative and professional work.

Responsibilities

* Manage all local park accounting and finance functions – including but not limited to general ledger, revenue recognition and ticketing, accounts payable, construction in progress, treasury and cash control, bank reconciliations and information services.
* Oversees all cost accounting reporting and project reporting, including capital spending.
* Financial close – weekly, monthly and quarterly including P&L preparation and balance sheet analysis.
* Assist corporate accounting and finance team by providing weekly/monthly/quarterly detailed balance sheet analysis and schedule preparation to support consolidated external financial reporting.
* Monitor compliance with internal controls and operating policies and procedures. Assists in quarterly and annual audit process.
* Supports and assists the General Manager in all financial decisions and planning. Analyze operating results to support forecasting and business decision making.
* Performs general administrative work as required; receives and reviews various records and reports including tax documents, budget documents, etc.
* Develop long–range plan proposals and analysis. Leads and administers the annual business plan processes to establish Park earnings, and capital targets. Monitors on???going business performance/trends; makes recommendations and facilitates decisions to achieve business targets.
* Establishes, communicates and implements division policies and procedures.
* Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations as appropriate; offers advice and assistance as needed.
* Directs and supervises duties of subordinate professional and managerial staff.
* Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
* Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field
* Must have at least 7+ years of finance experience as well as managerial and leadership skills
* CPA preferred
* Excellent mathematical skills
* Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
* Experience with internal controls and SOX
* Strong financial analytical skills
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
* Superior attention to detail, planning, and problem solving
* Ability to meet deadlines
* Proven experience leading and assessing process improvement projects.
* Excellent leadership skills coupled with experience in hiring, training and development of staff.
* Strong, instinctive work ethic and flexible schedule.
* Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
* Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law
