The Role

We're seeking to appoint an experienced Finance Director to lead and be responsible for all financial aspects of Bupa Cromwell Hospital, ensuring effective delivery of the strategic agenda and 3–year plan in the most cost–effective way. This role is focused on decision support, analysis, planning and forecasting and is central to supporting the Hospital Director – accountable for delivering the Bupa Cromwell Hospital Strategy.

We're looking for someone to drive a high standard first line of defence across the business unit, as well as ensuring high levels of governance.

The Finance Director will partner and collaborate with the General Manager, Hospital Director, leadership team and across the business to lead and drive the commercial success of the business, ensuring profit and growth targets are achieved. The Finance Director will be a cost advocate for the business, drive a continual reduction in operational expenses and ensure synergies between the various functions.

A key area is to manage business performance, risk and performance reporting, capex, annual and 3–year plan development and long–term strategic plans in alignment with the Bupa UK Director of Financial Control, and all the Bupa UK Finance team. You will pro–actively lead and regularly review the long–term strategic plans for the business, to ensure the business always operates to the highest standards, with overall control of profit and loss, as well as ensuring adequate solvency and operational/structural efficiencies at all times. The Finance Director will advise the Hospital Director and work with the Cromwell Leadership Team in the execution of the strategic plans for the company, minimising the risks of change.

The Finance Director will act as the aggregation point for reporting the financial performance of Cromwell Hospital and Bupa Health Clinics, into an overall UK Health Services position. You will provide decision support via the finance business partners to various operational teams and ensure there is an appropriate control and risk monitoring framework, directing corrective action where necessary.

You will be role model, leading and motivating the Bupa Cromwell Hospital Finance team, enabling confidence and risk taking where appropriate to deliver results. The Finance Director will coach other Business Partners to deliver effective finance strategies, interventions and other financial related initiatives.

Qualifications, Training & Experience:

  • Significant experience in Executive–level Finance roles, ideally in a hospital/care provision environment;
  • Strong financial background and training;
  • Experienced in leading large teams in a complex, multi–function corporate environment;
  • Experienced in building strong networks, managing and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, up to and including UK CEO and Group CFO level;
  • Experienced in delivering finance and commercial change, strategy, cost control, M&A, and improvements to financial operations and planning;
  • Experienced in delivering complex change to time, quality and scope.
