The Role in Brief

Senior Technical Accountant

Reporting to the Manager, Revenue Accounting, this person will support several key finance functions including revenue recognition and technical accounting.

This role will be based in Richmond, VA.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work in tandem with Technical Accounting to create revenue recognition documentation including design and development of revenue recognition framework in compliance with ASC 606
  • Create and manage ongoing documentation for revenue recognition, inclusive of but not limited to SOX narratives and controls matrices
  • Stay current on GAAP standards related to revenues and particularly the guidance specific to the SaaS industry, in order to appropriately oversee revenue recognition
  • Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely revenue recognition
  • Assist sales, legal, and pricing teams in structuring and negotiating deals in order to ensure proper revenue recognition
  • Preparation of memos documenting significant accounting policies for individual contracts, as needed
  • Be proactive in driving the development and improvements needed in the revenue accounting process together with our financial systems team to drive towards accuracy, quality, and efficiency
  • Interface with external auditors for the annual audit
  • Support the Manager, Revenue Accounting in managing the Company's revenue reporting systems and policies
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a professional certification (CPA)
  • Must have solid background in U.S. GAAP principles
  • Minimum 4 – 7 years of work experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Discretion in dealing with confidential material
  • Able to think clearly and reach well founded conclusions and articulate ideas crisply and concisely
  • Able to work under tight timelines and reprioritize work as needed
  • Ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail
Ideal Qualifications:
  • Practical experience in public accounting and/or revenue recognition
  • Excellent technical interpretation and verbal communication skills
  • Desire to work in a team environment
  • High level of commitment and integrity
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment
