American Woodmark is seeking a Payroll Professional to provide oversight and supervision to a team of Payroll Administrators at the Corporate Headquarters in Winchester, Virginia. This role is responsible for ensuring the day–to–day operations of Payroll processes are executed accurately in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The ideal candidate for this role will be able to:

– Serve as the subject matter expert for payroll processing and operations

– Provide leadership to assigned staff ensuring the efficient and timely processing of payroll for the entire organization

– Provide a high level of analysis and problem solving skills

– Interpret, apply and ensure compliance with various federal, state and local laws

– Coordinates and facilitates training of staff

– Supports Q/E and Y/E processing, including the filing of W–2s

– Review or Prepare various payroll tax returns for payroll related taxes

– Supports employee processing of stock options

– Provides auto training and works with vendor for updating wages for personal use of auto

– Prepares journal entries and various month–end tasks

– Reviews various payroll general ledger accounts

– Provides support for various banking functions and other duties assigned

– Review employee relocation expense reports

– Reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts

– Update standard payroll operating procedures

– Prepare multiple worksite reporting

– Knowledge of all payroll policies and procedures

– Develop and conduct payroll training

Required Skills, Education, Experience:

– Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance or strong payroll experience in lieu of education

– 2–3 years in an ADP Payroll environment

– 5–7 years of experience processing payroll

– 3–5 years supervising a payroll team

– Demonstrated leadership ability

– Demonstrated experience working in a team environment

Preferred Skills, Education, Experience:

– Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or strong payroll experience in lieu of education

– 3–5 years processing payroll in a corporate environment

– 3–5 years supervising a payroll team

– Certified Payroll Professional a plus

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position may supervise up to 5 employees.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, payroll reports, and legal documents. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients in an effort to carry out responsibilities and respond to common inquiries from customers/clients or members of the business community and public. Ability to develop/deliver training presentations to managers and co–workers.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply intermediate mathematical concepts and basic logic functions such as if–then–else statements.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and lift a minimum of 20 pounds.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Typical office environment. The noise level is usually moderate. Occasional extended evening hours are required.
