Job Title: Accountant

Location: Reading

Salary: to GBP55,000 depending on skills and experience

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week

Our Role

You will be responsible for the execution of comprehensive general accounting and period closing activities & support the Finance Manager to provide the accurate and timely execution of general accounting, period end closing, and reporting activities and delivery of reporting information to the wider Finance community in line with defined reporting protocols. You will review by delegation of P&L and BS control account reconciliations using judgement to highlight and investigate key and unexpected variances providing supporting commentary when required prior to review by the Business Partner. This role will provide support to both SSE Enterprise Contracting Finance Manager and SSE Enterprise Lead Finance Manager to deliver consolidated Enterprise reporting positon to Senior Management within Finance therefore high levels of accuracy are required.

Your Skills and Experience

We are looking for a Qualified Accountant with an extensive track record of owning critical close related activities and someone who has sound knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures. We would like someone who can work unsupervised, deliver high quality work to tight timescales and pick up new skills quickly. We are expecting them to have good knowledge of current regulations including IFRS / New UK GAAP and Companies Acts. It would be beneficial if they had in depth knowledge of ERP software (Oracle would be desirable). Beyond the financial accounting elements of this role, we are looking for someone who has experience in the completion of monthly MI. The ability to turn sound financial data into robust and clear MI to add value to management decisions is key output of this role.
