An exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant has arisen within an award winning hotel located in the heart of London. You would be joining a finance team of four and be responsible for the accounts payable and cashiering functions of the hotel. There would also be the unique opportunity to assist the Financial Controller with income audit duties and responsibilities.
This role requires someone with hospitality experience and who enjoys the fast paced environment of the hospitality industry. Someone with previous experience of cash handling is also important. You will be liaising with all departments of the hotel and therefore communication and possessing the confidence to talk with senior members of staff is key. There is progression within the finance department on offer due to the growth of the hotel's parent company.
Pay - £23,000 - £26,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + benefits

The Role:
Purchase ledger:
- Code and process purchase invoices on Sage 200 (approximately 800 invoices per month).
- Prepare payment runs on a weekly basis.
- Supplier statements reconciliation on a monthly basis.
- Manage the accounts inbox.
- Liaise with suppliers and staff within the hotel to resolve purchase ledger queries on a timely basis.
- Filing.
Cashiering duties:
- Count, record, reconcile and send cash takings for four outlets to the bank.
- Liaise with outlets and investigate shortages.
- Order and distribute change as required.
- Perform float certificates for all outlets on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile and post the credit cards receipts on a daily basis. Investigate and report any discrepancies.
Income audit:
- Check POS reports against Opera. Report and correct any mistakes.
- Check and verify credit card and cash refunds and report any discrepancies.
- Check rebated revenue vouchers and liaise with relevant departments (F&B/Rooms).
- Check the rates and credit reports have been verified and signed by FOH.
- Liaise with FOH for chargeback related issues.
- File all paperwork associated with guest bills and income audit reports.
- Other ad hoc duties relating to income audit.
Candidate profile:
- Previous self-accounting experience and a solid purchase ledger/cashiering background within the hospitality industry are a must. Candidates who do not have this relevant experience will not be considered.
- Strong Excel and IT skills are essential
- An understanding of Opera, Sage 200,
- Demonstrate strong organisation skills and good awareness of deadlines
- Great communication skills
