The Pricing Manager is a key member of the Cluster Bitumen leadership team. Bitumen manages our own supply chain, shipping, logistics and plant operations hence the role has a big influence on steering the direction of sales development.

Working very closely with technical team, supply & operations and sales team in order to develop pricing tactics (multiple products) to win in the market. Shell Bitumen sells Pen Grade bitumen, Polymer modified Bitumen (PMB for highways, racetracks, airports) and waterproofing products.

Job Purpose

  • Maximize the value of the Bitumen business with fit for purpose pricing tactics that enables sustainable profitability.
  • Actively managing and optimizing pricing of the portfolio for both new and existing customers.
  • Develop the annual contracting strategy.
  • Conduct pricing analysis by monitoring/analyzing the cost elements, profit margin and market/competitive intelligence
  • Develop strong working relationship with Global and Regional Pricing & Marketing Manager to ensure global pricing framework and regional contracting strategy are being locally adopted & implemented.

Accountability

  • Initiate and manage monthly dynamic target margin and floor price for each product segment on a monthly basis or more frequently depending on market condition
  • Monitor and analyze the cost element changes, supply source, market movements, competitor pricing, global /regional /local situation and trigger proactive actions to improve margin
  • Generate and maintain an up-to-date local pricing strategy, which is linked with local business target and outline pricing actions required to deliver the business target
  • Develop and manage pricing tactics and assist Business Managers in the implementation. Develop proposal on list prices, rebates, pricing structures and obtain necessary approvals according to MoA.
  • Proactively work with Customer Operations team to develop and implement necessary controls to ensure correctness of pricing set up, sales contracts, rebates structures and proper accruals at month end.
  • Work closely with Sales/Marketing Team to jointly develop storyboards for customer pitches
  • Work with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Sales, Regional team, Logistics, Supply, Credit, Distribution) to identify opportunities to maximize margin from customers.
  • Work closely with regional supply team (SETL Singapore) to ensure end to end supply optimization at regional level.
  • Own the demand forecasting responsibility. Ensure sales provide accurate data for input into supply
  • Custodian of the Sales Contract Management (SCM) process.
  • Local implementer of global/regional projects – eg. Jupiter/Apollo pricing tool
