The role is for someone that is very professional and presentable and looking for their 2nd/3rd job in Accounts. The opportunity gives exposure to accounts payable, receivable and month end.

The client is one of the largest and oldest shipping companies in the world with over $20 billion in turnover. They are based in East London and have a high standard of professionalism and expertise in their field.

Description

The key responsibilities include:

  • Processing invoices for the Italian, Scandanavian and German suppliers
  • Close communication with various operation teams and local cost team for any discrepancy between accrual and actual
  • Remind Ops team/Cost team to make /approve accruals
  • Liaise with Singapore payment office for any invoice/payment issues
  • Assist in setting up new vendors and maintaining vendor master file
  • Assist in raising invoices for space charter revenue
  • Assist in raising manual invoices for back to back charges for Italy
  • Log invoices for SE, IT and DE vendors
  • Capture SPEAR invoices for SE, IT and DE RORO operational related costs
  • Process claim settlement from IT and DE
  • Responsible to send the claim reports and owners' costs vouchers every week
  • Monitor timely receipt of verified invoices from operation & Cost teams
  • Ensure all approved invoices is given to the related endorser to endorse on Friday in order to pay on the following Wednesday
  • Assist in balance sheet reconciliations
  • Any ad hoc tasks (month end related or otherwise)

Profile

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • At least 1 yrs' experience within a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of basic double entries and how accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, reconciliations and general ledger functions are applied in practice
  • Strong capability with Microsoft Excel and ability to manage basic I.T. issues
  • Some knowledge of agency accounting functions
  • Team player and shows willingness to work closely and help each other in the team
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent application of accounting processes for data quality purpose
  • Confident communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent time management, ability to prioritise and plan, understand the importance of meeting various reporting deadlines
  • Flexible and conscientious approach to work
