Role Description

As a Senior Consultant within the Operational Excellence Service line, you will be required to play a lead role in managing delivery and engaging with clients to deliver operational excellence solutions to our broad range of clients across public and private sector organisations in Energy & Utilities, Healthcare, Agrifood, Life Sciences, Retail, Transport, and other sectors.

A strong client focus and commitment to delivering results in a fast-paced environment is necessary. You will have proven expertise in the delivery of one or several of the Operational Excellence pillars. Responsibilities

Contingent on your area of expertise, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Work directly with clients to lead out on the delivery of Operational Excellence services
  • Lead Grant Thornton teams during the delivery phase of client engagements
  • Build the skills and competencies of more junior members of the Operational Excellence team
  • Establish deep, enduring client relationships through continuously meeting their requirements
  • Grow the overall Operational Excellence service line offering
  • Work cross functionally with members of the wider Business Consulting team to deliver shared solutions to our clients needs
  • Communicate effectively with Directors and Partners to actively manage the engagement direction, challenges, opportunities and to identify new business opportunities
  • Share market, regulatory and competitor knowledge with peers and contribute to Thought Leadership and Business Proposals

Key Competencies

You will have demonstrated experience in the provision of one or more of the following services

Organisational and Functional Reviews

  • The design, execution and delivery of organisational and functional review engagements on behalf of clients
  • The provision of recommendations based on research and analysis (primary and secondary, quantitative and qualitative) to support the attainment of strategic goals
  • The drafting of organisational and/or functional review reports for presentation to clients

Business Process Management

  • The design, execution and delivery of Business Process Management Services on behalf of clients
  • The provision of business process improvement recommendations and/or the implementation of process improvement (including automation) initiatives
  • The management of process workstreams within large scale business transformation engagements

Target Operating Model Reviews and Redesigns

  • The design, execution and delivery of target operating model engagements on behalf of clients
  • The provision of target operating model recommendations based on analysis, research and benchmarking
  • The implementation of target operating model transformations, including leading out of workstreams or programmes of work specific to operating model improvements

Business Transformation

  • The design, execution and delivery of business transformation engagements on behalf of clients
  • The provision of support to major business transformation engagements across the public and private sector
  • The implementation of business transformation engagements through leading and or supporting the leadership of workstreams related to business process management, and/or target operating model improvements

Supply Chain Management

  • Supply Chain (CIPS or APICS accredited qualification)
  • The design, execution and delivery of supply chain management engagements on behalf of clients
  • The provision of recommendations based on research and analysis (primary and secondary, quantitative and qualitative) to support the attainment of strategic goals
  • The drafting of supply chain management reports setting out analysis, recommendations, and roadmaps for implementation for presentation to clients

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of two years' plus post-qualification experience is required
  • Prior management consulting experience is beneficial
  • Experience in the following industry sectors will be of specific interest: energy / utilities, life sciences, telecoms, transport, financial services, healthcare, or food and beverage
  • Project management/PRINCE 2 project support (MS Project, Waterfall, Agile, SCRUM) are beneficial
  • Lean Six Sigma qualifications are beneficial
  • Strong Microsoft Project skills, along with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, MS Project) skills are a pre requisite
  • The ability to develop good working relationships is critical
  • The ability to effectively balance a number of tasks, work to deadlines, and produce quality deliverables
