Job Description - Chief Financial Officer Reports To: General Manager Based at: 138 Student Living Jamaica UWI Mona Job Purpose: Provision of guidance and directly assisting with the strategic activities of the finance and accounting operations of the business to positively impact the financial performance of the business with special attention to management and statutory financial reporting, budget management, cost benefit analysis, monitoring of financial commitments and forecasting of financial needs. Activities and Deliverables Manage the Finance and Accounting Department ensuring proper segregation of duties to produce reliable accounting records. Update and document procedures in place to ensure efficiency within the Finance and Accounting Department Oversee the production of monthly management accounts for presentation by the 14th day of the following month providing an assessment and evaluation of the financial performance of the Company relative to budgets and forecasts. Prepare timely and accurate Quarterly Compliance Report to the Jamaica Stock Exchange Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations. Generate Board compliance reports , reports under the Concession Agreements and other ad hoc reports as may be required. Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information, evaluating proposals for automating processes and increasing work efficiency. Oversee the co-ordination and activities for the organization's year-end audit to ensure timely completion. Ensure covenants under the loan agreements are complied with. 10. Ensure effective control of accounts receivables by monitoring adherence to agreed procedures to contain balance at no more than 5% of monthly revenue 11. Monitor the banking activities of the organization ensuring adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs. 12. Assist with the design, implementation and timely calculation of commission and salaries for staff. 13. Communicate, engage and interact with Board of Directors, financial partners and personnel of relevant regulatory authorities. Qualification Requirements ACCA or equivalent chartered accountancy designation MBA preferred 5 years minimum experience in a senior finance and accounting position in a large organization 10+ years total accounting or finance experience Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP and IFRS. Outstanding communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues.
