FAAS is the fastest growing department in Grant Thornton. Our team has grown from 12 to 160 over the last 6 years. We provide solutions to accounting challenges faced by large and complex multinationals. Our FAAS department operates across 4 key service lines as per the below;

With the aim of providing solutions to accounting challenges in global finance functions, the FAAS team go to market across 4 proposition areas:

  • Global Compliance and Reporting Solutions
  • Audit and Accounting Advisory
  • Effective Financial Reporting
  • Business Process Outsourcing

Global compliance and Reporting Solutions

Grant Thornton in Ireland hosts our bespoke Centre of Excellence (CoE) which offers a unique framework for delivering an entire suite of global compliance and reporting. We are the only professional service provider to centralise all a multinationals compliance needs in one location. Our experienced team delivers all services through a single point of contact, regardless of scale or international jurisdiction. Our clients are mainly large complex multinationals operating across multiple jurisdictions. They are often SEC regulated and require bespoke technical assistance. The service we delivery therefore demands a combination of rigorous project management with clear communication protocols, technical excellence and a deep knowledge of shared service centre.

Our main areas of expertise:

Accounting support:

  • Conversion from group GAAP to local statutory GAAP
  • Preparation of bilingual local GAAP financial statements and submission of iXbrl for all global jurisdiction

Tax

  • Preparation, review and filling of direct and indirect tax returns with full supporting documentation and reconciliation

Payroll

  • Global coordination of payroll including management of multiple outsourced providers

Main responsibilities:

  • Design, implementation and delivery of large scale projects;
  • Act as a single point of contact for the client;
  • Preparation and review of financial statements across multiple jurisdictions;
  • Desire to broaden international experience through working on projects with and auditing companies across a number of jurisdictions in EMEA, APAC and Americas;
  • Proficient accountant, with a strong understanding of Irish GAAP and experience of IFRS;
  • Ability to learn quickly and keep abreast of developments (particularly IFRS).
  • Assist in maintaining and developing key client relationships;
  • Design and implementation of project plans;
  • Ensure completion of assignments within appropriate budget and timeframe;
  • Self-motivated and ability to work within a team;
  • Manage a team while on assignment;
  • Responsible for development and mentoring staff;
  • Strong communicator, highly articulate with good report writing and excel skills;
  • Commercial / business awareness;
  • A passion for client service;

Skills and attributes:

  • Recognised accounting qualification;
  • Proficient accountant, with a strong understanding of Irish & UK GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP;
  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience of working in a practice or industry environment on financial reporting teams or audit (previous experience of working with MNC’s an advantage but not a requirement, this could be in an industry or practice setting);
  • Strong experience in the preparation of financial statements (preferably using an automated system);
  • Strong communicator, highly articulate with good report writing and excel skills;
  • Commercial / business awareness;
  • Self-motivated and ability to work within a team;
  • A passion for client service;
  • An audit background is beneficial but not a requirement;
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
