GTRS Professional Internship offers candidates an opportunity to have a kick start on their career by providing hands-on work experience.
The role of the Intermediate Accountant is to undertake all production accounting activities, including preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and taxation requirements and deliver associated quality, professional accounting outcomes.
The position has no direct reports.

Accountabilities:
The Intermediate Accountant is accountable for the following:
  • Delivery of quality accounting outcomes in accordance with workflow requirements and client needs, working closely with the Accounting Principal

General Duties And Tasks:
The role includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and taxation summaries
  • Financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSF's
  • Consider and implement taxation planning for tax minimisation
  • Preparation and lodgement of BAS, IAS and FBT returns with the ATO
  • Assessment and management of client Superannuation Funds
  • Liaise with clients and advise on technical matters as they arise, as directed
  • Build and maintain client relationships over time
  • Provide technical support to clients for their in-house accounting systems and software, as required

Qualifications, Skills And Experience Essential:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in public practice (preferably as a graduate)
  • Experience in compliance work for individuals, businesses and SMSF's, including the preparation of tax returns, financials, BAS and FBT
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability with a strong attention to detail
Desirable:
  • Previous exposure/experience using Xero, MYOB, Quickbooks
