Are you a senior audit professional and a strong leader? Are you seeking a role that offers the opportunity to lead and inspire others to support the achievement of ambitious plans for Greater Manchester?
In this new role of Head of Audit and Assurance, based in central Manchester, you will help Greater Manchester to deliver its unique range of devolution responsibilities which include transport, police and crime, fire and waste disposal, for which the total budget is approaching £2 billion. Employed by the GM Combined Authority, but working across Transport for Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Police and the Combined Authority, you will provide audit and assurance services and have the opportunity to reshape and reposition the internal audit function to deliver these services collaboratively. You will have an influential role in shaping the audit and assurance strategy with the opportunity to develop relationships at all levels, including Boards, Non-Executive Directors, Independent Committee Members and local GM District Councillors.
Collaboration is critical to success in this role and you will engage and inspire existing team members and others you will recruit, based within two organisations, to work together to continuously improve the delivery of the service.
You will have extensive experience in leading an Audit team, delivering audit services to a large, complex, public sector organisation and establishing a culture of continuous improvement. You will also have experience of engaging and managing multiple and varied stakeholders with proven ability to effectively present and discuss audit recommendations at all levels of management. You should also be prepared to undergo Police vetting.
