Description
Key responsibilities include:
- To be responsible for the provision of financial support and advice to the relevant business area and to translate complex financial information and advice into easy to understand language
- To develop wider knowledge and understanding of the relevant dedicated business area to understand the key drivers for income and expenditure and create a deeper understanding of the organisation's cost base
- To help budget holders develop business intelligence including key performance metrics or predictive analytics, and assist with problem solving
- To attend and contribute to operational management team meetings at the request of budget holders
- To tailor finance reports to the needs of customers in the business and to provide a flexible, responsive service
- To maintain the Sharepoint Finance team site with up to date management accounts and other finance reports, for self-serve access by budget holders
- To provide financial training to budget holders and other staff in the relevant business area
- To provide support and input into special projects
- To maintain and enhance the customer-orientated approach through the provision of timely professional help and advice to the wider organisation and to sign post to experts within the Finance team, as appropriate
- To be responsible for preparation of timely management accounts for the relevant business area, in accordance with the monthly management accounts timetable
- To undertake monthly meetings with budget holders for the relevant business area to discuss their management accounts (including team listings) and provide insight to enable operational decision making.
- To document and provide a summary commentary of the operational reasons for variances based on the monthly meeting, for inclusion in the management accounts and to ensure budget holders provide reforecasts and action plans to address risks of adverse variances
- To be responsible for control account reconciliations including monthly prepayment and accruals for the relevant business area, monthly salary recharges and sundry debtors and trade creditors
- To approve the payroll journals on the finance system in a timely way
- To review the monthly reconciliation of payroll control accounts, between the payroll and finance systems
- To be responsible for review of monthly account codes, correcting errors, and providing advice and guidance to budget holders and other operational staff, regarding the importance of correct coding
- To undertake monthly tasks in a timely way including the posting and approval of journals and the preparation of monthly reconciliations, to ensure adherence to the monthly close down timetable

The successful candidate will qualified and have detailed management accounts and business partnering experience
