As the Competence Team manager, you will report to the Head of Compliance and Competence, providing a client focused service. You will encourage the culture of accountability across all levels of the team and act within integrity, keeping the core values of the business at the forefront of all that you do. Management activities will include; leading by example, motivating, developing, monitoring the team and reporting on activity. Financial services experience is required, alongside the ability to effectively manage team members, ensuring that they receive tailored support and guidance.

The Role

Tenet is looking for a Competence Team Manager to deliver the Training & Competence (T&C) Schemes, via the consultants within your team. Regularly monitoring and feeding back of observations in order to provide a bespoke client focused service. You will have the ability to confidently manage people and develop strong working relationships within each head office department. Working in synergy with others is essential in order to aid consistency within the overall business team. Effective and regular communication to colleagues within the business will be a key part of the day to day activity.

As the Competence Team Manager, you will own, update and deliver the Tenet T&C Scheme, ensuring all Network members have the correct level of T&C contact and review meetings throughout the year. All documentation in relation to T&C activity must be kept up to date and demonstrate delivery on regulatory requirements. Alongside this, you will regularly audit Tenet systems to ensure that the delivery of T&C schemes is consistent across the team. You will prepare board reports that identify key risks, be able to effectively communicate this information and provide suitable solutions where required. Other key responsibilities include; staff recruitment, training and one to ones to ensure that Tenet's strong reputation within the financial services industry is maintained.

Key Skills, Responsibilities and Attitudes

  • Excellent people management skills and experience of leading a large team
  • QCF level 4 diploma and CeMap qualifications or equivalents are essential
  • J07 or H15 qualification would be desirable, although this could be studied for
  • A background in wealth management or financial services is essential (e.g. mortgages/insurance/ financial advice)
  • Ability to interpret and act appropriately upon KPI data and internal policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work under pressure delivering high standards to meet targets
  • Current understanding of FCA Training and framework
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage own and team activity
  • Work in a timely manner to deliver targets within operational requirements
  • Ability to work flexibly when required
  • To manage own time and activity to deliver targets within operational requirements
  • Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills
