Private Banking APAC manages and provides advisory services in respect of over CHF 250bn of client assets and as a key growth region for the firm, consistently records substantial inflows e.g. around 17bn in 2017.

The AUM/NNA Controlling function is the second line of defence for the APAC PB Front on the AUM/NNA Policy and are responsible for the governance and maintenance of the same. The role requires an in-depth understanding of the Global CS AUM/NNA policy and is an enabler of the business in ensuring that the assets and flows are recognized and reported in alignment with the Policy. The Controlling Lead also has a primary responsibility on Finance related controls, reporting and analytics relating to AUM/NNA and given the pace of expansion as well as the need to maintain a strong control environment over classification and reporting, this is a key area of focus both regionally and globally.

This role forms an integral part of the PB APAC Finance function and reports directly to the Head of AUM Private Bank Finance.

Key responsibilities include:
  • AUM/NNA policy and controls
    • Manage the APAC AUM/NNA control framework including maintenance and preparation of documentation aligned to the firm's AUM/NNA policy and existing framework.
    • Continue to develop processes to provide oversight, review and classify clients flows including understanding of client intent, nature of the advisory relationship and special circumstances
    • Interface and partner with the regional business to establish the correct finance treatment and co-ordinate the review of large/special cases with Divisional Finance and PB APAC Management
    • Maintain influential relationships with key stakeholders such as Market Business Managers, Global AUM officer necessary for the alignment of strategic and daily operational objectives
  • Key Liaison with Group Finance around preparation and presentation of special and reclassification cases to the AUM Committees based in Zurich.
    • Preparation and Review of Business Cases and materials for the senior committee meetings
    • Liaison with Group Finance to ensure documentation is up to date, adequate and provided on a timely basis.
    • Drive, participate and support special investigations and periodic internal/external reviews ensuring adherence to the Policy
  • AUM/NNA Reporting and analysis
    • Own and develop weekly and monthly AUM/NNA reporting to PB APAC management and business in co-ordination with COE (Center of Excellence) reporting team and Management and Business Information Systems (M&BIS) team
    • Provide oversight of report production and transition development of new reports and analysis offshore. Partner with M&BIS in development of enhanced reporting to business through automated finance portal
    • Develop ad-hoc analysis and deep-dives on key AUM/NNA topics for PB APAC management
  • Training and Development of the Front teams (Relationship Managers RMs) around AUM/NNA recognition
    • Preparation, maintenance and presentation of training materials for New RMs to on-board them with the CS policy and governance around AUM/ NNA
    • Provide regular updates and meet training needs of the APAC markets around the topic.
