The GAC Assistant Manager is responsible for the accuracy of company financial statements for multiple legal entities.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the monthly closing activities in accordance to US Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (“US GAAP”) and local statutory requirements

  • Reviews monthly variance analysis including correlation to operational results and interaction with operational business units;

  • Reviews monthly reconciliations to ensure high quality compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP standards

  • Identifies and documents areas of concern within the reconciliation and develops corrective action plans where needed

  • Review self-audits to implement process improvement action plans

  • Manages transition of GL work from field locations into the GAC

  • Evaluates compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP methods; applies accounting knowledge to complex or unusual contexts; establishes company accounting controls and procedures; anticipates and addresses the impact of new accounting practices; advises others on accounting principles and practices

  • Liaises with internal and external auditors

  • Responsible for audit documentation, account analysis, annual financial statements and related statutory reports for both US GAAP and local statutory requirement;

  • Will manage a team of staff accountants to support region internal customer service goals meeting pre-established metrics

  • Anticipates industry, financial, and global trends impacting UPS and customers’ organizations; identifies strategic recommendations based on anticipated trends; uses detailed understanding of customers’ functions, structures, and business models to make supply chain recommendations.

  • Recalls specific, accurate information about events or conversations; develops tools, such as an issues database, for capturing details or records management processes to maintain detailed documentation; transitions between abstract concepts or ideas and concrete activities or work with ease; maintains documentation that support the completion of work and retention of details/decisions.

  • Applies advanced financial analysis techniques to draw conclusions from financial data; understands and evaluates implications of alternatives; make decisions on an appropriate course of action.

  • Addresses and resolves issues impacting information systems reporting; looks for ways to minimize report generation and required storage; modifies existing report formats; creates and interprets customized reports; integrates data, information, and documents from multiple software programs; writes more complex report queries.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

  • 3-5 years of experience in GL accounting or public accounting required

  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills required

  • Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant required

  • Experience in an accounting shared service environment preferred

  • Background in GL work migration preferred

  • Multiple languages proficiency would be an added advantage
