Following the retirement of our long-serving Chair, the Coleg Gwent Corporation is looking to recruit a Governor with experience at a senior level in finance, accounting or audit. This is a highly rewarding, voluntary role where you can make a significant contribution to the college. Governors play a critical role in setting the educational character of the college, ensuring it meets its strategic objectives, setting the annual budget and ensuring financial sustainability.

Ideally, you will live or work in the SE Wales region and have a genuine interest in education and training as well as a good understanding of the regional economy. You need the ability to think strategically and ask challenging questions and you need to be ambitious for the college. Most importantly, you need to be enthusiastic and willing to commit time to the role. Being a Governor is challenging, but rewarding and as well as making an important contribution to the community, you will gain valuable experience for your own personal development.

Governors attend monthly Board meetings (at Crosskeys) and termly seminars or committee meetings. The role in unremunerated, but you can claim reasonable travel expenses. The appointment will be for a three-year term of office. Governors can serve a maximum of three terms (9 years in total).
