Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, the candidate will provide and develop a comprehensive rent and service charge function to the organisation and subsidiaries. Candidate will support in providing financial and management reporting to stakeholders and be a pro-active member of the Finance Team.

Description

  • Manage and develop the Rent and Service Charge team and create a performance driven culture within the team. Conduct one to one and personal development reviews. Setting objectives, coaching and supporting development, measuring progress, motivating and addressing performance issues to ensure potential is maximised
  • Manage and oversee the service charge function for the group including annual budget setting, year end reconciliation, producing service charge accounts and clean annual audits
  • Manage and oversee the preparation, calculation, processing and communication of the annual rent review and provide technical expertise and guidance to stakeholders
  • Responsible for the roll over of the rent roll and investigating variances where required
  • Publication of re-let rent for all Group properties to ensure correct charges are used and income is maximised
  • Single point of contact for property numbers for all of our statutory and regulatory returns
  • To support budget holders throughout the budget setting process, using insight, legal knowledge and intelligence to challenge costs and set service charges which are affordable and accurate.
  • To produce scheme accounts and monitor all service charge income and costs monthly including group contracts. Meet with budget holders and contract managers to highlight causes of concern promptly escalating where appropriate
  • To ensure value for money is achieved for our customers. Identify poor cost control and drive through change
  • To establish and implement controls to ensure working papers and financial information are accurate
  • To advise and train budget holders in matters of financial understanding, rent and service charges and budgetary control
  • To produce accurate and meaningful management accounts commentary in the Directorate Packs, analysing in month and year to date variances against budget and projection and quantifying the year end impact and any potential impact to future years budgets
  • To produce balance sheet reconciliations and drive through any corrective action to ensure the Group balance sheet is accurate
  • Promote the department internally within the Group, and externally as required, and represent the department in the absence of the Finance Business Partner, as requested

Profile

Successful candidate will have experience of:

  • Rent and service charge setting
  • Leasehold accounting and producing service charge budgets and customer accounts
  • Staff Management and development
  • Experience of service charge audits
  • Process improvement and the ability to influence and drive through change
  • Full range of Microsoft Office, particularly the use of excel to manipulate complex data
  • Building relationships with non finance colleagues

Job Offer

  • Starting salary between £40,000 and £50,000 per annum depending on experience
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
