The Role
Reporting to the Head of Trading this role will manage the proprietary trading activities for the Marketing and Trading business in CBH
Responsibilities
· Manage the proprietary trading activity in currency, grains and oilseeds within policy guidelines to achieve company financial and non-financial objectives
· Analyse, identify and implement commodity trading strategies
· Working independently, and with the internal Quantitative Analytics team, leverage and extract value from market insights and research
· Financial analysis of respective underlying commodities products and managing trading positions in accordance to risk guidelines and appropriate risk measures
· Work with internal physical trading teams to identify and execute opportunities
· Provide market updates and communicate the desk strategy to the Risk Management Committee and broader business
· Contribute to the continuous growth and success of the firm
· Identify and implement continuous improvement strategies within the business and role
Skills and experience
· Tertiary qualification, preferably in economics and agriculture
· At least 5-10 plus years' experience in commodities and financial markets in risk and proprietary trading in agricultural trading
· Strong analytical skills and sound understanding of grain logistics and global supply and demand
· Demonstrated application of analytics in a commodity trading environment and applying these strategies accordingly
· Strong commercial experience and negotiation skills
· Ability to work with others and drive enterprise value
· Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
