The Role
It’s an exciting time to join Camden’s Finance service. Following our accreditation as a CIPFA Platinum Employer, we are seeking a number of innovative, highly skilled individuals to contribute to the development and implementation of the Council’s Medium Term Financial Strategy. You will help drive our outcomes-based budgeting approach and deliver the best use of resources for the people of Camden.
We are seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to support production of the Statement of Accounts, taking responsibility for fixed asset accounting within the Statement of Accounts and ensuring delivery of high quality working papers. The post holder will lead on one or more technical areas including capital accounting and PFI accounting.
You will proactively work as part of a team to identify areas of weak financial management, risks and pressures, and develop and execute plans to improve those, as well as coordinating the timely production of responses to external audit queries to enable the annual Statement of Accounts to be audited.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have sound knowledge of financial regulations, statutory financial reporting requirements and financial frameworks in a large organisation – preferably local government.
You will demonstrate excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills, being able to interpret financial data and apply logic and judgement. The ability to build effective and productive working relationships with colleagues inside and outside of the Council and demonstrate personal commitment to resolving problems or issues is essential to the role.
You will have good understanding of providing service delivery improvements, including financial systems and processes within a financial setting.
