About the job
This is an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence professional to join our BI Development team based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
As a BI Developer within SGBD IT you will play a key role in an Agile team delivering data-driven solutions to support business functional areas within SGBD UK and Ireland.
You must have a passion for technology, process, and the ability to find creative and innovative solutions while negotiating with a variety of stakeholders across the business. Expect to work through complex technical, data, and process challenges at enterprise scale.
Reporting to the BI Manager you will be involved in the design, development, delivery and maintenance of data warehouse structures, load processes, and reports. You will also be involved in the design and implementation of the Enterprise BI Strategy.
Your Role will involve : -
Delivery of high quality, responsive and efficient BI solutions -
Development of BI Solutions including the ETL layer, Data Modelling, Administration and Configuration -
Creation and modification of Business Intelligence reports and dashboards in line with business requirements -
Perform quality assurance tasks as required, creating a test plan and capturing appropriate evidence to support the results of testing -
Analysis and documentation of business and technical requirements -
Work with BI Partners in the delivery of or enhancement to BI Solutions -
Deliver solutions in line with Change Management Processes -
Provide software support to business users and colleagues as required -
Perform proactive monitoring of supported systems in order to identify any potential issues and minimise any potential disruption to the business -
Escalation of issues and queries as required
For this role, it’s essential that you have: -
Experience of implementing BI software solutions including database structure, data warehousing, OLAP and presentation technologies -
Experience of data interfacing, migration and modelling techniques -
Experience of providing data to business users and third parties -
Experience MS SQL Server 2012 onwards -
Understanding of Relational Databases and good SQL querying skills -
Knowledge of BI Reporting Tools -
Strong numerical and analytical skills -
Strong communication skills -
Good documentation skills
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in a computer science or related subjector have the equivalent working experience. A proven ability to effectively collaborate with other team members and colleagues is essential alongside the ability to take on new technical skills.
