About The Role
We have an opportunity for a 12 month maternity contract for a WHS&E coordinator with experience in the construction industry. Based at our Rosebery Centre of Excellent, the contract will ideally begin in mid-June to allow for an extensive handover period.
As the successful applicant, you will be responsible for providing day to day safety, health and environmental advice and assistance to the project management teams.
The role will encompass the on-going development, maintenance, auditing and implementation of WHS&E management systems and subcontractor documents. You will be assisting in the setup of new projects including Environmental Management Plans and Environmental governance activities such as identification of environmental risks and implementation of environmental controls.
O ther responsibilities will include:
Ensuring compliance with legislative / license requirements and internal document control
Liaise & develop good working relationships with relevant authorities including Local Government, Health and Safety Regulator, Environmental Protection Authorises
Coordinate ongoing management of WHS&E legislative requirements
Participate in relevant industry bodies, internal WHS&E forums etc. to maintain a level of contemporary knowledge and best practice approaches
About You
In addition to being an experienced WHS&E professional with a minimum of a diploma-level qualification in WHS and Certificate IV in Environmental Management, you will need to have had on-site experience in the construction industry.
Ideally you will have further training and experience in such areas as working at heights, asbestos awareness, confined spaces and first aid.
You will need to have up to date knowledge of WHS&E legislation, policies and procedures.
In addition the below experience and qualifications will strengthen your application:
Knowledge of risk management
Qualification in Workplace Training & Assessment
Demonstrated ability to positively influence and improve Health and Safety outcomes
Finally, you will be a team builder with good communication skills and a capacity to engage audiences across all levels.
