About the role:

Based in Karratha, the Operations Support Group have a permanent opportunity as Senior Officer - Water Quality.
This position works closely with the Technical Advisor Water Quality and supports the implementation of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines to the North West Region of Western Australia.


The key responsibility of the Senior Water Quality Officer is to support the regional implementation of the Drinking Water Quality (DWQ) Management Framework using a Catchment to Tap approach, including, Implementing and supporting DWQ monitoring programs ongoing review of variances and trends.

identifying and coordinating action in response to short and medium term risks to WQ compliance.

Providing advice to the North West Region's Service Delivery Manger, Operations Support Manager, Operations Managers and Regional Operations Staff on matters relating to water source protection and drinking water quality.

Supporting the Incident Manager in responding to Drinking Water Quality Incidents.

Undertaking/supporting water quality investigations, site inspections, water safety plan development and DWQ process audits

Preparation of water quality reports for internal and regulatory compliance reporting

Monitoring and reporting on source abstraction activities to meet regulatory requirements
Key skills and experience:

Tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering or science and experience in drinking water quality management and catchment management

or


Significant experience in drinking water quality management and catchment management

Either currently living in the North West or willing to relocate permanently

Relevant experience in water operations and/or natural resource management.
