Purpose

To provide insights into how the UK is delivering against BPC Financial targets / previous forecasts ensuring UK MD, BU CFO and Head of PP&E have the appropriate level of information to make the required informed business decisions.

The UK Reporting Analyst is responsible for delivering the consolidated UK RoFo (incl consolidated G&A) and providing variance analysis of actual performance against forecast. Once created, the Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the UK MD and CFO are comfortable with the narrative that the Analyst is intending to deliver to Copenhagen. The Analyst is responsible for delivering a clear, concise and easy to understand forecast message to Copenhagen and is the focal point for any further queries from Corporate.

The Analyst is responsible for UK level income statement and balance sheet analysis of actuals against forecast

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Delivery of Consolidated ROFO (including LOF requirements)

  • Provides expertise in accounting and reporting whilst working towards efficient, effective and consistent accounting treatment and reporting time lines across the assets and licences.
  • Responsible for management and co-ordination of the Rolling Forecast timetable to ensure all requirements are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Attend Gross Consolidated RoFo presentation to UK Management Team to aid net analysis preparation.
  • Work closely with the GSC and Business Analyst group to ensure that the corporate forecast is updated and includes the latest relevant adjustments to take account of changes in business focus and requirements.
  • Responsible for the delivery of high quality Rolling Forecasts (including life of field) for the UK region, presenting to UK Head of PP&E, BU CFO and Managing Director and submitting to Copenhagen PP&E.
  • Further responsible for ensuring the UK MD and CFO are comfortable with the Rolling Forecast message and is then responsible for delivering the message to CPH.
  • Liaise with Planning & Economics Team to ensure alignment between Quarterly Rolling forecast submissions and Long Finance / Business Outlook submissions by Economics team.
  • Work closely with the GSC and Business Analyst group to consolidate and allocate G&A updates to the forecast.

Actuals to ROFO variance analysis

  • Responsible for the delivery, through self and others (GSC, Business Analysts), of all variance analysis and commentary (monthly, quarterly) required as part of local management reporting and the rolling forecast process.
  • Liaise with GSC and UK Controller Team to ensure that the actuals in the reporting model are correctly updated as required (in accordance with internal reporting standards / policies) and that model calculations work as expected.
  • Promote the principles of good accounting practices, continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for delivery of financial information for UK Board meetings as required during the year.

Performance Analysis

  • Delivery and discussion of key analysis / metrics to support UK Management business decision making (such as
  • ROIC / Opex per bbl) by working with Managing Director, BU CFO, Head of PP&E and wider UKLT.
  • Validation of proposed UK BPC financial information (Vols, Opex, Capex etc) prior to proposed targets being issued to Copenhagen.
  • Tracking of BPC financial performance and working closely with Financial Planning & Economics Manager (and GSC) to deliver UK Performance data locally and to Copenhagen.

Other

  • Assist the Head of PP&E with ad hoc queries and provision of support for the rest of the PP&E Function.
  • Delegate for Senior Business Analyst or Head of PP&E as required

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience (not age or time specific)

  • High calibre Qualified (or qualified by experience) Accountant with a proven track record and Oil & Gas Industry knowledge
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with ability to interpret, analyse and present financial data in a business context
  • Good business/commercial awareness and proven analytical skills to ensure value-add to the organisation
  • Good attention to detail
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of company’s key control processes, standards and policies
  • Ability to create positive relationships with peers and internal/external stakeholders
  • Engaging personality with highly developed social and effective communication skills with the ability to present complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner
