Client Details

Our client is a market leader, innovator and highly desirable business who pride themselves on their entrepreneurial culture and fast paced way of working. They have recently outsourced their global compliance and require a Finance Manager - Global Compliance to work alongside this partner to ensure smooth planning for the year end timetable, internal audits and manage any issues.

Description

The Finance Manager - Global Compliance will have the following core responsibilities:

Planning and governance:

  • Plan the year end timetable through to the signing of the local statutory accounts and tax returns. This includes:
  • Liaising with group and local auditors to organise their time and requests into the timetable
  • Working with the outsourcer to design the online workflow to ensure tasks are mapped out to deliver to the deadlines
  • Working with the outsourcer to ensure deadlines and users are up to date within the workflow
  • Liaising with the financial shared service centre and ensuring their teams are prepared for the audit and accounts process
  • Communicating the plan to key stakeholders
  • Collating and monitoring feedback to achieve efficiencies in future years
  • Plan, arrange and lead the internal steering committee meetings including capturing actions
  • Maintain a log of any issues and raise them at the steering committees

Managing the ongoing engagement:

  • Assist financial shared service centre with audit and outsourcer queries as required
  • Constantly consider the scope of the engagement and ensure all tasks are being upheld by the outsourcer and items are delivered on time
  • Assist with bringing new jurisdictions into the global compliance outsourcing model as required
  • Adapt, re-plan and manage any changes to the timeline
  • Liaise with global outsourcer with any scope changes to the contracts and manage overall fees on an ongoing basis. Perform the intercompany recharges of fees
  • Consistently challenge both the external provider and internal teams to refine the process and produce greater efficiency
  • Manage the signing process; liaise with UK and local Directors, local auditors, local outsourcer and receive company secretarial guidance from the outsourcer's central team
  • Facilitate company secretarial compliance as required
  • Liaise with internal tax teams to manage a smooth process for tax filing and transfer pricing adjustments

Other projects and ad-hoc:

  • Contribute to accounting, system and compliance finance projects as required
  • Update and advise on internal accounting policies

Profile

Essential:

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong project management and planning skills
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong statutory experience originally from a practice background
  • 3 years+ PQE

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Strong organisation and project management skills
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and manage a number of concurrent deadlines
  • Strong character with the ability to lead, drive change and determine the most appropriate way forward
  • Confident and able to have some difficult conversations and deliver difficult messages to Director level
  • Understand what is involved in the preparation of Financial Statements and tax returns and how the signing process works

Desirable:

  • Experience of managing compliance
  • Experience of working in an international group environment
  • Awareness of corporate tax issues
