This is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing, values driven individual to help shape the health services in Wales for a generation. The successful candidate will be innovative, an excellent team player with technical expertise, and will be part of a small, relatively new executive team that has been charged with the transformation of the workforce in NHS and other publicly funded healthcare organisations to meet the challenges of the future.

On October 1 2018 a new statutory body within NHS Wales came into being, working across the health and education sectors. Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) oversees the strategic development of the health workforce in Wales, including workforce planning, leadership development and education commissioning. It sits alongside existing Health Boards and Trusts to be the eleventh member of the NHS Wales family.

THE ROLE

As a Board Member, the Director of Finance & Corporate Services will have an important, visible executive role within Health Education & Improvement Wales (HEIW).

They will work closely with the Chief Executive, Chair & Board to implement the vision for the new body within NHS Wales. As a strategic leader within HEIW, the Director of Finance & Corporate Services will have the exciting opportunity to shape strategy, new ways of working and an organisational culture.

The successful candidate will lead, shape and embed a number of financial and corporate strategies to support the organisation in delivering its ambitious aims and objectives. The post holder will also provide executive leadership on HEIW’s digital and technology agenda both internally and in support of HEIW’s education, training and workforce development functions. This role is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to be innovative and cutting edge, and to diversify skills and experience as part of a small executive team. Strong preference for collaborative team approaches, flexibility, excellent leadership and values driven behaviour are essential qualities.
