Reporting into the COO and the board to provide leadership for the division's quality and assurance arrangements, ensuring group and divisional quality indicators and regulatory requirements are fully satisfied.

Description
- On behalf of the CEO monitor regions to ensure effective monitoring and reduction of risk in relation to safeguarding, quality, compliance and assurance
- Work closely with Managing Directors and their teams to ensure they achieve strong regulatory outcomes
- Ensure regions and sites have support and challenge in place to ensure that all sites are offering consistently good care and education
- Oversee interventions where necessary in sites that are deemed inadequate or at risk of a negative regulatory judgement
- Provide governance of safeguarding across the division
- Develop and oversee systems to monitor and respond to serious incidents so that they are managed effectively
- Manage a team of quality improvement professionals
- Ensure the division has specialist advice and thought leadership in for example autism, residential care, education, behaviour and safeguarding
- Lead the development and maintenance of divisional policy documents to underpin and drive good quality practice
- Lead developments and improvements in practice across the division
- Offer expert advice on the developments of new services and projects
- Represent the business on relevant national bodies
- Participate as a full member of the division's SMT and work with other managers to ensure an integrated approach to developing quality, people and performance is in place
Profile
- Must have expertise in special education and/or children's homes and residential care
- Wide knowledge of inspection and regulation
- Knowledge and experience in improving schools or children's health and wellbeing
- Knowledge of systems to monitor, assure and improve quality
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and current education and care practice and theories
- Excellent analytic and presentation skills, able to assess data and focus on salient points and actions
- Creativity combined with practical approach.
- Able to build effective teams and listen, coach and inspire them
- Ability to interact appropriately at a variety of levels
- Able to deliver strong and sometimes uncomfortable messages in an appropriate manner
- Able to work cooperatively and bring about change through working with others
- Must be prepared to travel nationally
- Ideally Level 5 Qualification in Safeguarding Children or similar
