Description
- Lead a team of management accountants to ensure delivery of high quality outputs and ensuring they develop successfully within their roles
- Own the delivery of a high quality month end close process for revenue, cost of funds and impairment (risk-adjusted income), including critically analysing and providing support for areas of significant judgement, analysing performance against budget and prior year, delivering insightful balance sheet analysis and reconciliations and supporting strategic projects
- Work closely with the business, particularly Commercial Finance, Treasury, Credit Risk and Commercial, to ensure Finance are engaged on strategic priorities and areas that impact financial reporting significant judgement areas and ensure the correct accounting approach is applied
- Own the financial reporting of risk-adjusted income and provide insightful variance analysis compared to prior periods and budget
- Ensure the Group's accounting policies are applied to risk-adjusted income to ensure compliance with IFRS and ensure significant judgements are fully supported
- Manage the delivery of judgement papers presented to the Board Audit Committee to support and evidence the rationale for management judgements made in respect of highly technical, judgemental or sensitive components of risk-adjusted income
- Manage the relationship with the external auditors with regards to risk-adjusted income, ensuring a smooth audit process at each reporting cycle where auditor input is required
- Partner closely with the Commercial Finance, Treasury, Credit Risk and Commercial teams to support and challenge outputs required to ensure the Group's risk-adjusted income accounting is appropriate including providing insightful analysis to senior management and highlighting risks and opportunities
- Work with the business on strategic projects and change to assess any potential impact to risk-adjusted income. Develop accounting policies where required and ensure processes evolve as required to reflect delivery of strategic projects, for example integration of new retail partners into reporting
- Ensure adherence with the Financial Control Framework and deliver continuous improvement for assigned areas of responsibility
Profile
ESSENTIAL
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS) and experience of implementing accounting policies to ensure compliance with standards
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral at all levels
DESIRABLE
- Experience in managing a team
- Experience of applying accounting policies under IFRS 9
