Management Accountant

My client is a fast-growth utilities business that is looking for a Management Accountant due to winning several new contracts.

The operational finance team are a central pillar to our business providing practical and compliance advice to budget holders to deliver efficiencies and savings within the contracts. Working with two new contracts, this role is an exciting opportunity to get out into the business and make an impact, building strong and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and the wider finance team. We are looking for an individual with the confidence to scrutinise and challenge data and decisions. The successful applicant will be a true business partner, capable of supporting the operational business at multiple sites. Critical to success will be spending time on site to understand the business strategy and challenges to ensure financial support is fit for purpose and in line with the wider strategy.

Description

The successful applicant will take responsibility for the production of accurate monthly management accounts for P&Ls within the role-holder's remit and reporting results and variances to Finance Manager.

They will also prepare forecasts/budgets in liaison with Operations Managers and bring the confidence to challenge decisions in a constructive manner. This is very much a business partnering role, applicants will need to demonstrate strong Balance Sheet control experience including preparation of control account reconciliations and ensuring business performance is measured and accurately reported.

Profile

Applicants will be a qualified accountants with a recognised awarding body - CIMA, ACA, ACCA.

They will also possess experience of management accounting and influencing decisions within a large complex organisation. This includes close scrutiny of accounts and variance analysis on a regular basis.

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong systems knowledge ideally with exposure to SAP, BI or COGNOS. Full driving licence with the willingness to travel to site regularly is essential.
