Not for Profit - Michael Page Finance are currently pleased to be exclusively partnering with a well known Not for Profit organisation based in Swindon, to recruit a Financial Accountant in to their team.

Client Details

Our client are a well known Not for Profit organisation, in a location which is commutable from Cirencester, Melksham, Gloucester, Stroud, Cheltenham, Gloucester.

Description

  • Review and production of annual consolidated financial statements in line with FRS102, including liaison with external auditors during the course of their annual audit. Preparation of annual company files, backing up disclosed numbers in the financial statements.
  • Technical accounting query resolution and ad-hoc investigations/analysis as and when required.
  • To produce a monthly trial balance and communicate it to the finance team. Responsible for collating all balance sheet reconciliations; checking returns against the trial balance; reviewing the detail and preparing an action plan of queries / outstanding issues. Record the responses and monitor outstanding reconciliation for discussion and review with the head of finance.
  • To maintain the fixed asset register, accurately accounting for all acquisitions and disposals by updating and communicating clear guidance and policies.
  • To advise upon, review, maintain and update financial regulations and associated policies. Ensure that accounting controls are in place, procedures are communicated to staff and properly applied.
  • Work closely with Internal and External Audit, to ensure that they have adequate support to effectively report on the organisations systems and implementing approved internal and external audit recommendations affecting the finance function.
  • To be the lead source of technical financial expertise and to advise wider finance department on such matters as VAT, corporation tax, and accounting standards.
  • Be the first point of contact and source of internal advice on taxation matters affecting the organisation.
  • To produce quarterly VAT returns and maintain all VAT ledgers and ensure nominal ledger accounts are cleared down and reconciled to the return on a quarterly basis. To monitor trends and prepare quarterly commentary and analysis of variances in VAT payments.
  • Calculation and production of corporation tax returns.
  • To work with Finance colleagues in a business partnering role and support staff in the preparation of business plans, budgets and forecasts by providing summary financial information including comparisons to prior periods and trend analysis.
  • Treasury management and cash flow forecasting.
  • Production of the Charity Commission annual return.

Profile

The ideal candidate for the Financial Accounting position is:

- Qualified Accountant

- Educated to degree level

- Experience working in the Not for Profit or Public sector (desirable, candidates without this experience will also be considered.)

- Excellent experience in financial accounting, statutory accounting, year end, liaising with external auditors.

- Some experience of Management Accounting would also be beneficial.
