The Finance Managers core responsibility is to manage all aspects of accounts in a professional and considered manner to best aid the sustainability of the company.

Description

Accountable for the long term and annual planning and forecasting, periodic reporting and administration, establishing and monitoring internal controls and steering the ERP, Payroll and associated IT / Business systems.

Responsible for the accounts department & financial administration, including Purchase order and payment control, Payroll, ERP (Sage) salary, tax, legal and directors accounts.

Responsible for compliance to (UK specific) corporate governance rules (Bribery act etc), treasury, foreign currency risk and accounting standards in line with the audit teams' recommendation Responsible for managing relationships with external auditors, Banks, Payroll, HMRC etc.

Manage the financial reporting process and support the business by providing timely and accurate management information Provide qualitative, quantitative and meaningful business performance information as required by Company Directors.

Accountable for the financial aspects of the organisations IT systems; local Payroll environment and ERP (functional super user).

Responsible for sales calculations systems: hourly rates, margin control, Departmental overheads (including rates) Bills of material, Product costing and profitability by Product / Product line & customer

Establish, monitor and continuously improve strong internal control environments. Identify potential weaknesses and warrant implementation of improvements including the identification of potential cost savings.

Responsible for the long term and annual planning and work closely with the Managing Director and the rest of the management team (Sales, Operations, IT, Administration) to ensure an adequate business planning process is in place at all levels

In depth review and analysis of financial statements and management reporting including periodic, cash-flow, sales reporting (internal, external, wholesale and retail) and variance analyses

Undertake and manage procurement as required.

Manage an overview of stock and stock control systems.

Ensure the appropriateness of the key assumptions in the budget and the forecast process and provide advice to management with regard to these matters

Research, keep up to date and implement company and industry legislation as required.

Undertake Capital Investment Appraisal

Monitor changes to company legislation to ensure the company is making full use of opportunities e.g. Grants, R&D, company structure.

Profile

• Broad Developed Business Controller for both management and financial accounting skills
• 5 -10 years relevant experience in both commercial and agricultural environment(s) (Preferable)
• A suitable accounting qualification or qualified by experience
• Hands-on, result orientated "can-do" attitude
• Can appropriately challenge current practices, systems and strategy within the business
• Can make business decisions as required
• Eager to learn, develop and improve.
• Experience in implementing new software applications is a plus, have general IT skills (preferably experience with Microsoft Excel and Sage ERP systems)
• Ability to influence and impact in all areas of the business
• People Management skills with ability to communicate on all levels
  
• Reliability, patience and persistent with a positive attitude, sense of humour and absolute discretion.

Ability to work under deadlines and pressure.
